This site is to keep family, friends, and anyone else who may stumble across it accidentaly up to date with our journey to and life in OZ.

The journey continues...

Apologies for the lack of updates in the last few years.

We have been here for almost 7 years now – things are going well.  Steve is now working for Amcom as Manager for Security Consulting and Shirley is the Practice/Administration Manager and Bookkeeper for a physiotherapy practice (Star Physio). James has completed his BsC in Computer Network Security is working as a Network engineer and is engaged to Rachel, Adam is studying IT at TAFE (college) and living with his long term girlfriend Ella. Paige is undertaking a Fashion Design course at TAFE and currently looking for work.

If that weren’t enough Steve and Shirley are also now involved with the State Emergency Services doing volunteer work – Shirley is the Deputy Manager for Operations and Steve is the Training Manager with Swan SES.

Steve is also the executive member for the fast growing Perth Branch of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) which currently has in excess of 270 members.

So, although we seem to have a lot going on, we decided to take on an additional small project – haha!

On Friday 19th July 2013 at 2pm (Perth time) settlement was finalised on a small (0.8 of an acre) piece of land on Culeenup Island!  It’s about an hour’s drive from where we live, is on the Murray River and is only accessible by boat!

Initially there wasn’t any habitable dwelling on this bush plot – there was a however, a park home which has been split into two halves and lifted a metre and a half off the ground, a couple of sheds, a rusty old ute and a lot of mother nature.

And so a whole new story starts... This blog will now become the story of our renovation/building of this to turn it into our vision of a lovely weekend hideaway!
